Designed to maintain all plain edge kitchen knives. This sharpener features an advanced ceramic wheel, and a solid plastic handle with weighted non-slip base to give you the quickest and easiest way to sharpen your kitchen knives. Use regularly to hone the blade edge back into shape. The clear plastic guard will protect the replaceable ceramic wheel, which is positioned at the optimum sharpening angle for the japanese-style 15° blade edge of the signature range of kitchen knives. Whilst specifically designed for use with the signature range of kitchen knives, this hand-held knife sharpener can also be used to maintain and sharpen other plain edge kitchen knives. Please note that serrated edge blades should not be sharpened with this product. Hold the sharpener firmly on a flat surface when sharpening. 10-12 Strokes from heel to tip of the blade applying gentle pressure, maintaining the blade edge in continuous contact with the wheel on a regular basis will keep your blade edge in optimal condition. Wash and dry knife before use after sharpening. We recommend that after 12-24 months, depending on frequency of use, you change the ceramic sharpening wheel in order to maintain your knife’s cutting edge to a high standard. Replacement wheels are available individually or as a special offer set of two. Download our guide to sharpening your signature knife with the robert welch hand-held sharpener.
Brand: Robert Welch
When Robert Welch MBE (1929 – 2000) launched his company in 1955, he did so by setting up his drawing board and a camp bed in a disused workshop in an 18th century silk mill in Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds. From there, he created some of the most famous products in British domestic design, focusing on highly functional, affordable pieces from cutlery and kitchen utensils, to champagne buckets and candlesticks. Today, two of Welch’s children, Rupert and Alice, continue to design and manufacture from the same location, carrying on their father’s legacy
